In-Person Training/Coaching Sessions (3 full-day or 6 ½ day workshops, 18 hours total) Workshop attendants will be provided with therapeutic theory and approaches that they can implement immediately to provide effective and efficient direct care services. Theory and techniques have been successfully modified to fit helping relationships that are not primarily therapeutic in nature. The goal of each workshop is to enhance knowledge, skill and confidence in providing effective, efficient, client-centered care. Each workshop builds off of the previous session & the desires of workshop attendants. Tentative learning objectives include the following. Learning Objectives Define my Success Understand Trauma (Healing) Informed Care Understand the importance of Self Care Learn about the Care Cycle (Intake through Discharge) Apply Motivational Interviewing (MI) in Work with Clients Learn about De-Escalation/Suicidal Ideation/Other Difficult Situations Apply Information & Skills to Case Scenarios Plan to Implement Information & Skills on the job Online Training Courses (approximately 6 hours) Aspire will provide 9 online trainings to registrants to set the foundation knowledge necessary to perform direct service duties, including case management. The in-person workshops build upon the online trainings to enhance knowledge, skill and confidence in utilizing therapeutic approaches with customers. Aspire highly recommends offering the online trainings in advance of in-person workshops, and requiring completion of the online trainings prior to attendance at the in-person workshops. The online workshops are described below. They are presented in the suggested order of completion and include learning objectives. Reducing Stress Through Self Care (60 minutes): Maintaining a healthy mind and body is important to all of us; and is essential to those who protect, serve & care for others. This workshop provides a foundation about stress, trauma, secondary trauma, burn-out & compassion fatigue with strategies to manage all. It’s how you manage it all that counts. Helper as a Person (50 minutes) Sometimes it is difficult being human in human services. This workshop provides the basic skills of self-care in Case Management. Therapeutic Communication (40 minutes) This workshop enhances the case manager’s ability to communicate with clients. Mandatory Reporting (45 minutes) Learn about Mandatory Reporting and other requirements involved in the work of case management. Approaches to Difficult Situations (30 minutes) Case Managers deal with many challenging situations and clients struggling with mental health and substance abuse issues. This workshop enhances knowledge and ability to deal effectively with difficult situations involving clients. Stages of Change (40 minutes) Learn about the stages of change and how to utilize them with customers. Harm Reduction (30 minutes) Learn how to apply harm reduction approaches to client-centered care. Service Planning and Monitoring (40 minutes) Learn how to effectively and efficiently utilize service plans and monitor client progress. Critical to funding and service delivery, this training examines best practices in utilizing paperwork to improve client outcomes.
