MI FOUNDATIONS & ADVANCED MI
FOUNDATIONS: Motivational Interviewing (MI) is an evidence-based therapeutic approach for therapists and non-therapist direct care staff. Learn practical application of foundational MI concepts and approaches that you can implement immediately. These approaches assist in efficiently and effectively developing rapport, meeting the participant where they are, and supporting mandated and voluntary participants toward behavior change.
Dates: This is a 4-session course; 10am – 1pm CT (attend all 4)

ADVANCED: This workshop will provide a very brief overview of basic Motivational Interviewing (MI) concepts of the MI Spirit, MI Process, and ROAS; then will provide opportunity for attendants to define their own participant scenario and address it with advanced MI approaches. Topics will likely include Trauma Informed Care, resistance, discord, preparatory and mobilizing change talk, and how to plan with stressed/traumatized or mandated participants.
